SONOMA COUNTY, CA --A Bay Area man was charged in Superior Court on Dec. 14 with obstructing and evading sheriff's deputies and reckless driving during a vehicle pursuit that led to him being shot by a deputy in Windsor on Sunday.

Eastwood was shot in the shoulder by Sonoma County Sheriff's Deputy Christopher Haas after the pursuit ended in the Windsor Palms Plaza in east Windsor.
Sheriff's officials said Eastwood ran toward deputies and pointed a black object that looked like a gun. Eastwood was arrested and taken into custody after Haas shot him with his service weapon and other deputies shot him with Taser stun guns. The black object turned out to be a bicycle lock with a yellow handle.

Before the pursuit, Eastwood's mother-in-law told Petaluma police around 4:50 p.m. Sunday that Eastwood was in his car with a handgun and stated he wanted to be killed by law enforcement, sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Crum said.
Eastwood then drove north to Windsor and drove his gold-colored Volkswagen onto a sidewalk at a man who then called sheriff's deputies, Crum said.
Eastwood's defense attorney Paul Lozada said outside of court that his client was despondent about family law matters and has no criminal history.
Lozada said Eastwood is remorseful about his conduct and is grateful for the professional way that sheriff's deputies responded to the incident.
