Sonoma County Supervisor Elected To Statewide Association

Fourth District Supervisor James Gore said he plans to "share the best from Sonoma County and bring the best back home."

HEALDSBURG, CA - From California State Association of Counties: The California State Association of Counties® (CSAC), the statewide organization representing all 58 counties, has elected Sonoma County Supervisor James Gore to serve as Second Vice President of the Association in 2019. The election occurred last week during CSAC’s Annual Meeting in San Diego County.

“As county leaders, we live and work where the rubber hits the road —literally—and I plan to use this opportunity to share the best from Sonoma County and bring the best back home,” said Supervisor Gore. “It’s a true honor to be elected by one’s peers, a cadre of leaders from throughout California, to make sure the county voice is powerful in Sacramento and Washington, D.C.”

“Through his leadership role and active involvement in CSAC, Supervisor Gore has demonstrated leadership, expertise and a volunteer spirit critical to this association,” said CSAC Executive Director Graham Knaus. “We know that there are many challenges ahead for California’s counties. Supervisor Gore’s qualities, passion and policy expertise make him an important leader in Sonoma County and on the CSAC Officer team.”

Supervisor Gore currently serves as the chair of the CSAC Resiliency Advisory Committee—an effort he initiated after the 2017 fire siege. He is also an elected member to the Association’s Executive Committee from the Suburban Caucus and an officer on the Latino Caucus of California Counties.

“Of specific importance, the lessons we’ve learned in disaster response, recovery and resiliency in the wake of our catastrophic wildfires must be shared and promoted statewide,” said Supervisor Gore. “While we all face our own unique challenges, the need for our communities to achieve social, economic and environmental resilience has never been greater and is something we hold in common. I look forward to working with my fellow leaders to step boldly into this work.”
