• "Hermosa Has Your Back": A German Author Sets Her Novel on the Strand (hermosareview.com) — A German author who fell in love with Hermosa Beach has set her new magical-realism novel for kids entirely along the Strand, pier, and familiar local spots. She visits several times a year, writes and illustrates here with her daughters, and hopes Hermosa children will see their town's beauty and their own struggles reflected when the book releases October 10.
   

• Dicker the Kicker: beyond the field goal (easyreadernews.com) — Los Angeles Chargers kicker Cameron Dicker is channeling his success into the Wholeheartedly Foundation, which funds student-led service projects to improve Hermosa Beach and other South Bay communities.
