New Digital Gateway Sign Gets Approval (hermosareview.com) — Hermosa Beach is moving ahead with a new digital gateway sign at Pier Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway, after the Planning Commission unanimously approved the project. The Art Deco–inspired monument at the Community Center will display only city messages like events, meetings, and emergency alerts, with no ads or political content allowed, and is funded in part by a longtime local donation.
   

2. Hermosa Beach Education Foundation hosts first golf fundraiser on Sept. 16 (dailybreeze.com) — Hermosa Beach families have a new way to support local schools: the Hermosa Beach Education Foundation is launching its first-ever golf fundraiser on Sept. 16 at Los Verdes Golf Course. With pro golfers potentially joining, a three-person scramble format, and a separate sunset reception, the event aims to raise significant funds to bridge gaps in TK-8 education funding for Hermosa Beach students.
   

3. How to Spend Labor Day Weekend in the Southwest (mynorthwest.com) — If you're staying close to home this Labor Day, Fiesta Hermosa is back Sept. 5–7 with a carnival, food fair, Maker's Mercado, wine garden and four music stages right in Hermosa Beach. The travel guide also lists big Southwest events from Tucson Comic-Con to the Telluride Film Festival if you're considering a getaway beyond the South Bay.
