HOLLYWOOD, CA — The 92nd Academy Awards are Sunday, and the noirish “Joker” leads the pack with the 11 nominations followed by “The Irishman,” and “Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood,” and “1917” with 10 nominations apiece.
For the second year in a row, the show will go on without a host. With strong favorites sweeping the pre-Oscars awards season, it's a night ripe for upsets and surprises.
What time are the Oscars?
The ceremony starts at 8 p.m. Eastern, 5 p.m. Pacific. "E! Countdown and Live From the Red Carpet" on E! Starts at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET

Who are the favorites?
The top contenders in the acting categories each basically swept the awards season leading up to the big night, so count it an upset if actors other than Joaquin Phoenix, Renée Zellweger, Brad Pitt or Laura Dern take home golden statues.

In the directing category Directors Guild Award-winner Sam Mendes is also considered a strong favorite. It’s the Best picture category, the big prize, that could offer the biggest surprise of the evening with highly acclaimed South Korean film "Parasite" a black horse in the race against “1917,” “Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood,” “The Irishman,” “Ford v Ferrari,” “Jojo Rabbit,” “Joker,” “Little Women,” and “Marriage Story.”
