Got a news tip? I'm Paige Austin, your local editor. I started out in newspapers and jumped to digital community news with Patch as a local editor all the way back in 2010. I began covering the Hollywood area in 2014. I still have a lot to learn about Hollywood, but I've already figured out what anyone can tell about Hollywood in a heartbeat. It's a special place where people, whether they are in the industry or volunteering at nonprofits, believe in themselves and what they have to offer. Covering Hollywood, it can be easy to get caught up in the celebrity or national news, but what makes Patch tick is the local community news. I need your help covering that. Send your tips, ideas and questions my way at paige.austin@patch.com. If there is an issue in town you think Patch should be covering, please reach out to me. If you want to know why you hear sirens, or see a smoke plume or the 101 isn't moving, ask me, and I'll find out what's going on. If there is an artist or community group that people should know about, let's get them on Patch.

A little about me: naturally, I am a hardcore Dodgers and Kings fan and soon-to-be bandwagon Lakers fan. I have a toddler and two pugs. So when you call me and hear loud snoring in the background, it's the pugs you're hearing. I'm a sucker for anything written by Kurt Vonnegut, John Steinbeck or Neil Gaiman. And I love history and am endlessly fascinated by Hollywood's rich history.

Our readers also love Hollywood Patch's calendar of events — more than 1,516 visits were made to our calendar in August. Coming up soon on the calendar are Roaring Nights At L.A.
