Manhunt Nabs Hollywood Hills Hit and Run Suspect

Police employed a helicopter and K9 unit to track down a man suspected of fleeing after causing a head-on collision that injured two.

Two people were hurt and a hit-and-run suspect was at large for about two hours after a crash in the Hollywood Hills, a police officer said today.

The crash happened on Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Mulholland Drive about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, said Los Angeles police traffic Officer George Trejo. The two vehicles collided head-on and the suspect fled down an embankment and hid, Trejo said.

Two people from one vehicle were transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, he said.

Officers set up a perimeter and used a helicopter, Urban Search and Rescue units and finally a police dog to collar the suspect around 11:45 p.m., Trejo said.

“He had facial injuries consistent with the head-on collision,” the officer said. The suspect was transported to a hospital for treatment prior to booking.
