• Arrested man gave the police his brother's name, to hide his outstanding warrants, in coastal OC (newsantaana.com) — Huntington Beach police say a man stopped downtown for disturbance complaints allegedly gave officers his brother's name, only for technology checks to reveal his true identity and outstanding warrants. The department is using the case to remind residents that providing false information during lawful stops can trigger extra misdemeanor charges on top of issues like public intoxication or disturbing the peace. 
• OC Cities Increasingly Embracing Homeland Security Grants For Cooperation With Border Patrol (voiceofoc.org) — Huntington Beach has quietly accepted $324,500 in federal Operation Stonegarden funds for overtime, boat radar, and coastal monitoring tied to anti‑drug and anti‑trafficking patrols along its shoreline. City police stress they will not assist with immigration enforcement, even as immigrant advocates countywide question whether these Homeland Security grants deepen local dependence on federal border agencies.
