Be Well OC Hosts Ribbon Cutting Ceremony In Laguna Beach

The two-year pilot program is about to launch in Laguna Beach, and here's how to be a part of the ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA β€” The Be Well OC Mobile Mental Health Service's two-year pilot program is launching in Laguna Beach on Tuesday. Aug. 1.

Residents can be a part of a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the start of the mobile mental health program in the city, the city said.

The celebration comes after the Laguna Beach City Council approved a partnership with Be Well OC in April to establish a Mobile Response Team to provide community mental health and wellness services in the city.

The program was approved for a two-year pilot and will launch, officially, on Aug. 1.

Laguna Beach is the sixth Orange County city to partner with Be Well OC, joining Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Garden Grove, Anaheim and Irvine.

According to a city news release, the program incorporates Be Well staff into a city's network of first responders and allows 911 dispatchers to route mental health and substance use crisis calls to the Be Well Mobile Crisis Response Team.

The team is skilled in de-escalation, crisis intervention, counseling and mediation, according to the city.

The Be Well OC Ribbon Cutting takes place Tuesday, Aug. 1 at 5 p.m. at the Main Beach Cobblestones in Laguna Beach.
