Man Airlifted from Dana Point Fishing Boat

A 30-year-old man, suffering from possible kidney stones, had to be hoisted from a fishing excursion boat 62 miles off the coast.

A man suffering with possible kidney stones was hoisted up from a fishing excursion boat about 62 miles off the coast of San Diego, a Coast Guard spokesperson said today.

Coast Guard Sector San Diego received a call for help from the crew of the 32-foot fishing boat, Intimidator, just before 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The fishing boat is based at Dana Harbor, in Orange County.

The crew requested medical assistance for a 30 year-old passenger suffering from possible kidney stones, a USCG spokesman said.

A MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter arrived overhead at about 6:30 p.m. and safely airlifted the man to an EMS crew waiting on shore in Sna Diego.

The EMS crew took the patient to Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego for further treatment.
