1. Downtown Road Work Starts In Laguna Beach This Month: What To Know (patch.com) — Downtown Laguna Beach drivers and pedestrians should prepare for several weeks of construction starting Monday, Oct. 12, as the city upgrades sidewalks and streets on key downtown roads. Work will run weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., affecting Forest Avenue, Ocean Avenue, Broadway Place and several nearby streets, with notices going directly to impacted residents and businesses.
   

2. PUP Laguna Beach sponsors 100626 (stunewslaguna.com) — Laguna Beach veterans and active-duty service members can now get their pets spayed or neutered with free microchipping through a new fall Veterans Pet Wellness Program. Vouchers are available at the Laguna Beach Animal Shelter through October 31, with procedures done in November at Laguna Beach Animal Hospital. Proof of Laguna Beach or Laguna Woods residency and military service is required.
   

3. Laguna Beach Preps for Super El Niño After Multiple Water-Related Deaths (voiceofoc.org) — Laguna Beach officials have declared a local emergency ahead of a predicted Super El Niño and are hosting a preparedness workshop on Oct. 12 to help residents protect homes and businesses. The move follows three recent water-related deaths off local beaches and unusual swells that have eroded sand, damaged seawalls, and yellow-tagged six oceanfront homes, prompting a push for funding and shoreline protections.
   

4. Pet of the Week 100626 (stunewslaguna.com) — Laguna Beach animal lovers are invited to meet Arnette, a small, affectionate Cairn terrier available for adoption at the Laguna Beach Animal Shelter on Laguna Canyon Road. Shelter staff emphasize careful matching to keep their return rate far below the national average. Locals can call or visit the shelter's website to learn about Arnette and the adoption process.
   

5. Supergroup Rainbow Body, Ben Harper, Amos Lee Bring Three Nights of Live Music to Laguna Beach's Irvine Bowl, October 23–25 (venuestoday.com) — Laguna Beach residents can catch three nights of big-name live music at the Irvine Bowl from October 23–25 as the Coast Film & Music Festival wraps up. Supergroup Rainbow Body debuts Friday, followed by Ben Harper on Saturday and Amos Lee on Sunday, with Donavon Frankenreiter, G. Love and Lily Meola supporting. Tickets and details are available through the festival's website.
