CORONA, CA — A motorist suspected of shooting at a vehicle on the 91 Freeway in Corona last week in a road rage incident has been arrested, the California Highway Patrol announced Thursday.

Brian Augustine Jimenez Jr., 20, of Rialto was taken into custody Wednesday morning and booked into Riverside's Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and shooting at a vehicle. He is being held on $1 million bail.

The alleged shooting took place at 10:08 p.m. June 23. Jimenez, who was driving a gray Kia Optima, "fired an unknown number of rounds at another motorist" before fleeing eastbound on the freeway, according to the CHP.

No injuries were reported.

The Kia's license plate number was captured, which allowed investigators to track down Jimenez. Rialto Police Department officers were provided with the information from the state law enforcement agency and pulled Jimenez over late Tuesday night. CHP investigators then took custody of Jimenez and the Kia. He is due in court Friday.
