Arrest Made In Deadly Attack Outside Elsinore Business

The body of a 24-year-old Lake Elsinore resident was found Sunday, officials said.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA – A man suspected of fatally beating a 24-year-old Lake Elsinore resident outside a business was arrested Monday.

Victor Daniel Vega, 25, was booked into the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of murder for the deadly attack on Brayan Guzman.

According to Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Ben Ramirez, Guzman's body was discovered about 10:25 a.m. Sunday in the 200 block of Graham Street, near Spring Street, in a business district about two blocks from the sheriff's Lake Elsinore station.

Deputies arrived within a couple of minutes and immediately identified "significant trauma" on the victim's body, prompting them to request that homicide detectives be sent to the scene, Ramirez said.

Following an investigation that entailed canvassing the area and speaking with potential witnesses, detectives identified Vega as the alleged perpetrator, according to the sergeant.

The suspect was taken into custody without a struggle about 4:30 a.m. at Matich Park on Limited Avenue.

A possible motive for the attack was not disclosed.
