Car Skids Off I-15, Slides Down Embankment

The CHP, responding to Norco-area accident, said the motorist managed to get herself out of the vehicle.

NORCO, CA – A vehicle involved in a collision on Interstate 15 in Norco Monday skidded off the freeway and plunged down an embankment, coming to rest next to the Santa Ana River, but the driver emerged unscathed.

The crash happened about 12:20 p.m. on the northbound I-15 at the Santa Ana River bridge, near River Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The driver, whose name was not released, was involved in a collision with an SUV, causing her car to veer out of control over the shoulder of the freeway and onto a hillside, plunging an unspecified distance toward the river bottom, the CHP reported.

The car came to a stop upright on a dry surface, and the motorist was able to extricate herself from the car uninjured, according to the CHP.

The SUV driver remained at the scene.

A tow truck with a cable was summoned to pull the vehicle back up to the roadway.
