DUI Checkpoint Announced For Lake Elsinore
Authorities urged motorists to always designate a sober driver.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — Sheriff's officials are planning to staff a DUI/driver's license checkpoint in the city of Lake Elsinore this week, it was announced Tuesday. The operation is slated to begin at 8 p.m. Friday and wrap up at 2:30 a.m. Saturday.
"DUI Checkpoints like this one are placed in locations based on collision statistics and frequency of DUI arrests, affording the greatest opportunity for achieving drunk and drugged driving deterrence," the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said in a news release. "Locations are chosen with safety considerations for the officers and the public."
The exact locations of checkpoints are not released beforehand.
