Man Killed in Elsinore Collision Identified
The man died from injuries sustained in a head-on wreck this week.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A man who died following a two-vehicle crash in Lake Elsinore this week has been publicly identified. The 78-year-old was among two people cut free from the wreckage in the Tuesday incident, and he died at the hospital a short time later.
Riverside County coroner's officials say Oren Schurter died about 90 minutes after the head-on crash happened on Lake Street, a quarter-mile west of Temescal Canyon Road. He was a resident of Lake Elsinore.
According to Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. James Woodland, Shurter and another motorist collided about 8:30 p.m., causing major injuries to both drivers.

A total of 11 firefighters responded to help free the injured, fire officials reported.
"Both patients have been extricated and will be transported to area hospitals by ground ambulance for treatment of moderate injuries," the Riverside County Fire Department said following the crash.

They were taken to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, where Shurter died. The other victim survived and is in recovery.
"The Traffic Reconstruction Team of the Lake Elsinore Police Department is conducting a full investigation to determine the cause of the collision," Woodland said. "Alcohol is not suspected to be a contributing factor to this collision."
