Motorcyclist Killed In Ortega Highway Crash

Coroner's officials have since identified the victim in the deadly wreck.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A motorcyclist was fatally injured Sunday in a wreck near Lake Elsinore, the California Highway Patrol said. The crash happened around 4:15 p.m. on the Ortega Highway, about 2 miles south of Grand Avenue, the CHP and Cal Fire Riverside said.

According to the Riverside County Fire Department, the crash involved a sedan and a motorcycle and the "motorcycle rider perished at the scene."

The crash left the bike about 200 feet off the side of the highway, the CHP said.

The victim has since been identified as 27-year-old Zachary Jacobson. Jacobson was a resident of Hemet, according to the coroner's office.

The condition of the car driver was not immediately known.
