RivCo Commends EVMWD For Promoting Sustainable Practices

The award is given to organizations which make significant contributions towards sustainability in the region.

From Lake Elsinore Municipal Water District: Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District (EVMWD) was selected as the Riverside County Board of Supervisors’ 1st District recipient for the Riverside County Department of Waste Resources Sustainability Award.

The award is given to organizations which make significant contributions towards sustainability in the region. EVMWD was recognized for achieving outstanding leadership through water conservation and efficient practices.

“EVMWD is clearly committed to the concepts of environmental stewardship practices and promotes it with programs like Elsinore Eddie Efficient Gardens and the annual Splash into Spring,” said Hans Kernkamp, General Manager for the Riverside County Department of Waste Resources.

Elsinore Eddie’s Efficient Gardens showcase water efficient and California friendly landscapes that visitors can recreate themselves and are located at the EVMWD District Headquarters and the Storm Stadium in Lake Elsinore. EVMWD’s annual Splash Into Spring event invites the community to learn more about EVMWD’s sustainable and reliable approaches to water, recycled water and conservation through a variety of family friendly activities and displays each March.

“We are honored to be recognized for our contributions to a more sustainable approach to water,” said Andy Morris, president of the EVMWD Board of Directors. “Our commitment and investment to ensure reliable supplies is essential for the future of this community.”

EVMWD was recognized at a recent Riverside County Board of Supervisors meeting for its efforts.
