Several Hurt In I-15 Weekend Crash Near 'Super Bloom'

Two of those injured had to be airlifted to the hospital via helicopter, the fire department reports.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — Several people were hurt in a weekend crash along southbound Interstate 15 in the Lake Elsinore area, the Riverside County Fire Department reports. The wreck involved a total of four vehicles and injured seven, while also prompting the temporary closure of all southbound lanes.

The crash was reported at 4:16 p.m. Saturday south of the Lake Street off-ramp. A pickup and two other vehicles collided, causing one to flip on its side, according to a CHP incident log.

First responders also found two person trapped within the wreckage, the Riverside County Fire Department said.

In all, two victims with serious injuries were taken to hospitals via air ambulances, one victim with moderate injuries and four victims with minor injuries were taken to hospitals by ground ambulances, according to the fire department. A helicopter had to land on the freeway during the incident, the CHP reported.

A SigAlert was issued, and all lanes were closed on the southbound Interstate 15. All lanes were reopened at 6:23 p.m. CHP officers diverted motorists off the freeway via the Lake Street off-ramp.
