Traffic Advisory Committee Appointed

New advisers appointed

After much controversy and delay and years of broken promises, the long anticipated Traffic Advisory Group (TAG) came into being late night. Here are the 7 members who were selected -

MARK ARMANDO is a retired Police officer and has lived here for 31 years. He’s active in his HOA and was a Police Academy Instructor at Golden West College. He has a BA from Cal State Long Beach.

SCOTT DRAPKIN has been a City Planner for 20 years. He’s lived in Lake Forest for 15 years and is active in AYSO.

TED REDWINE is a 25 year resident, active in the past with the Chamber of Commerce and Lacrosse.

DONALD STOLL is a former teach and coach from El Toro High School. He is a 37 year resident of the City.

DEREK WIESKE is a licensed Civil Engineer and a former employee of Lake Forest. Right now he works for the City of Long Beach where he manages their Transportation Division. He’s a 20 year resident.

I asked the City Clerk to change the voting process so that everyone knew who voted for whom. In the past it was difficult to know, but this time it worked well and probably should be adopted for all future appointment processes.

The only surprise of the night was the fact that long-time resident and Lake Forest’s own home-grown guru in the area of traffic, Jim Richert, was not selected. No one in the City has spent more time on the traffic issue, and no one knows more than Jim, but incredibly, the only 2 votes he received was from Councilman Nick and I, and that was over 5 rounds of voting.

The TAG will be meeting later this month. Stay tuned.
