LAMORINDA, CA — A CHP officer is being hailed as a hero after he risked his own life to save a driver from a burning car.

CHP Officer Richman responded to a crash on westbound Highway 24, just east of the Orinda exit. The car had crashed into a tree and was catching on fire when he arrived.

Good Samaritans had already tried to get the driver out, but the door was jammed shut by the force of the impact.
