Lafayette has kept it's small town feel really well for how dense the population is. That may be in part to the integration of old buildings. According to Lafayette History in the early 1850's the first school house in Contra Costa county was built. By 1899 the third school was built, and you can still see it today! Everyday I walk or drive past the United Methodist Church of Lafayette and never knew how old the tower of their building was!
