Man Arrested for Concealed Weapon, Drug Offenses in San Rafael

A San Rafael K-9 officer arrested a man on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon and for drug-related offenses Monday.

The officer and his canine partner were patrolling the area of Fourth and Mary streets at 6:54 p.m. Monday when they saw a man remove a metal object that was tied to a rope around his neck from underneath his shirt, according to San Rafael police Lt. Dan Fink.

Upon closer inspection, the officer could see that the object was sharp on both sides and resembled a curved blade, Fink said.

The suspect was untying the rope from one end of the object, allowing the blade to hang from his neck, according to Fink.

After seeing that the suspect was attempting to conceal the weapon, the officer approached the man, who was later identified as Jesse Lee, 24, of Sausalito. Lee was also in possession of methamphetamine, a hypodermic needle and pharmaceutical pills without a prescription, Fink said.

Lee was arrested and booked at Marin County Jail on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon, possession of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of narcotics paraphernalia.
