BREAKING: Elderly Driver Crashes into Neighbor's Front Door
Officials say the woman suffered from pedal confusion and mistook the gas and brake pedals on a sedan.
LIVERMORE, CA- A driver crashed into a home in Livermore this morning, damaging the front door but injuring no one, Livermore Police officials said. The 85-year-old mistook the gas and brake pedals on a sedan and plowed into her neighbor’s house on Lexington Way, according to Livermore Police Officer Traci Rebiejo.
“The driver was trying to back out of her driveway when she hit the gas pedal causing her to back up her neighbor’s driveway and into the front door,” Rebiejo said.
According to Rebiejo, no one was home at the time of the collision and the driver was not injured. Rebiejo said a city inspector was called to the scene and firefighters worked to help shore up the overhang above the door.
