District Announces Livermore High Vice Principal, Junction K-8 Principal

Superintendent Kelly Bowers announced Wednesday that Ms. Dayna Taylor will take the lead as Principal at Junction K-8 School, and Mr.Erik Taylor will be Vice Principal at Livermore High School, effective July 1, 2016. Erik Taylor and DaynaTaylor continue their many years of educational service and leadership withintheLivermore Valley Joint Unified School District.

Dayna Taylor is a native of Livermore and a graduate ofLivermore High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in History with a minor inEnglish from California State University, Chico. She earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from California State University, East Bay.

Fourteen years ago, Ms. Taylor began her teaching career at JunctionAvenue Middle School where she taught English Language Development and middle school Core classes. She moved to Livermore High School in 2005 where she taught high school Social Science for five years.

Since becoming an administrator, she has worked as an Assistant Principal at California High School, where she led the Project Lead the WayBiomedical Health Pathway, Athletics, and various technological endeavors such as the 1:1 iPad initiative and Google in the classroom. Ms. Taylor then returned to LVJUSD to serve as the Vice Principal at Junction Avenue K-8 and Livermore High School where she focused on instructional leadership, student interventions and positive discipline.

Ms. Taylor is thrilled to be returning to Junction Avenue K-8 School. “I feel fortunate to lead a talented staff and be supported by an amazing parent community,” says Ms. Taylor. When it comes to the students of Junction, Ms. Taylor says that is what she has missed the most. She is excited to be back to support them in her new role as Principal.

Erik Taylor, Vice Principal, Livermore High School Erik Taylor is extremely excited to be announced as Vice Principal at Livermore High School. After he graduated from Harbor HighSchool inSanta Cruz, Mr. Taylor served in the United States Army. Once honorably discharged from military service, he earned his Bachelor of Arts in History at California StateUniversity,Chico. Mr. Taylor continued his education by earning a Master’s of Science in Educational Technology Leadership from California State University East Bay.

Mr. Taylor began his teaching career at Junction Avenue Middle School where he taught English, History, Yearbook and Technology. Later, he taught Business, Personal Finance andTechnology at Livermore High School. Mr. Taylor then took on the role of Technology Integration Specialist as an LVJUSD Teacher on Special Assignment, in order to expand his leadership abilities. For the past three years, Mr. Taylor has served as a Vice Principal at Christensen Middle School.

During his fourteen years working on behalf of students in the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District, Mr. Taylor has served on several technology, curriculum and data committees. He helped transition summer school to an online credit recovery program, developed and expanded STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education programs at Christensen andEast AvenueMiddle Schools and conducted multiple professional development offerings throughout the District. Most recently, Mr. Taylor has incorporated restorative justice practices at Christensen, worked as the site’s testing coordinator and facilitated technology- based curriculum.

Erik Taylor and Dayna Taylor are married and reside in Livermore. Dayna enjoys travel, urban farming and time with her family. Erik enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors. They have two sons, Brady and Aidan, who attend Livermore High School.
