Elderly Woman Found Safe Thanks To Alert Livermore Resident
BREAKING: Police credit social media and thank the alert citizen who helped find the woman.
LIVERMORE, CA — Police Saturday praised a Livermore community member and social media for helping to locate an 81-year-old woman who went missing Friday. Around 11:30 a.m. Friday, officers responded to Holdener Park to investigate the report of the missing woman, police said. Several agencies were called in to assist.
Livermore police also notified the community by posting information about the missing woman on social media, including Nextdoor. Around 1 p.m., a Livermore resident who saw the Nextdoor post called police
and reported seeing the woman described in the post, police said. The resident located the woman at Fourth and Holmes streets, police said.
Officers responded to the area, and the woman, who wasn't hurt and didn't need medical attention, was reunited with her family, according to police.

In a written statement, police thanked the community member and encouraged residents to follow the department on social media. The department's social media sites include Nextdoor, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Nixle.
The California Highway Patrol's air unit, the Pleasanton Police Department's off-road motorcycles, the Alameda County Search and Rescue unit, the Livermore Police Motor Unit and Livermore Police Department volunteers also assisted in the search for the missing woman.
