Ex-Livermore Little League President Stole $22,000, Police Say
The organization's former board president is accused of embezzling money meant to serve kids playing baseball.
LIVERMORE, CA — The former Livermore Little League Board President has been charged with stealing $22,000 over a two-year period.
Denise Arante, 48, of Livermore was arrested Friday on a warrant for felony embezzlement, forgery and grant theft, the Livermore Police Department said. She owned up to the crimes in a statement to police following her arrest, police said.
Arante served as board president for two years and resigned in May 2019 after an internal investigation into the theft of funds meant to benefit children part of the youth baseball organization, police said. As board president, she held the purse strings to the Little League's bank account.

The investigation was opened after Arante's personal bank noticed what appeared to be fraudulent activity and notified the Little League treasurer, police said. The Little League turned the case over to police.
