Former City Manager Is Livermore's Top Paid City Employee In 2021

Coming in at $330,905​​​ with base pay and benefits, Marc Roberts out-earned all other city staff to lock in his top earner status.

LIVERMORE, CA — Former City Manager Marc Roberts was the highest paid municipal employee in Livermore for 2021, according to numbers released by the California State Controller's Office.

Coming in at $330,905 with base pay and benefits, Roberts' position, which typically pays between $296,851 – $296,851, out-earned all other city staff to lock in his place as the city's top earner.

Roberts' pay, included a base rate of $287,144, along with $27,514 in lump sum pay and $16,247 in other pay, which according to the controller's office, could include everything from meeting stipends to bonus pay.

In 2020, he was paid $306,666, with $280,445 in regular pay, $18,121 in other pay and $8,100 in lump sum pay.

The next highest paid municipal employee in Livermore was the assistant city manager coming in at $222,442 followed by a management analyst II at $158,438. A second management analyst II ($146,540) and an executive assistant ($143,986) rounded out the top five.

The highest paid city council members in the state belonged to the city of Los Angeles, with wages sitting above $200,000. The highest paid mayor in the state belonged to San Francisco, with a wage of $353,802, followed by Los Angeles. The ranking did not differentiate between full- and part-time employees.
