Livermore Educators Shave Their Heads to Support Teacher, Student Battling Cancer
The event raised $5,000 to support the family of a middle schooler and a teacher fighting for their lives.
Livermore, CA — Two middle-school teachers in Livermore shaved their heads to support a fellow teacher and a sixth-grade student each battling cancer.
The Mendenhall Middle School community has rallied for months to help raise money for the duo.

During a field-day event held to celebrate the last day of school Wednesday, Vice Principal Alex Eckert and Erin Peacock, a sixth-grade teacher, agreed to shave their heads in front of a lively crowd of students, staff and parents.

Eckert and Peacock garnered $5,000 by making the cut.

Following the dramatic haircuts, supporters enjoyed a staff versus students softball game, carnival games, a talent show and music.
