Livermore DUI Checkpoint Planned Friday Night
BREAKING: The checkpoint will be held between 8 p.m. and 1 a.m.

LIVERMORE, CA — A DUI/driver's license checkpoint will be held in Livermore on Friday night, police officials said. The location of the checkpoint has not been released. Officers with the Livermore Police Department and the California Highway Patrol will be looking for alcohol and/or drug impairment and proper licensing when contacting drivers.
Police officials say the checkpoint, which is funded by the grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety in an effort to reduce the number of alcohol-related collisions, deaths and injuries in the East Bay, will only delay drivers momentarily. Police warn that impaired driving includes prescription drugs and marijuana.
“In California, alcohol involved collisions led to 1,155 deaths and nearly 24,000 serious injuries in 2014 because someone failed to designate a sober driver,” police said in a statement. “Over the course of the past three years, Livermore PD officers have investigated 236 DUI collisions which have claimed three lives and resulted in another 71 injuries.”
