Livermore Mayor Presented With Prestigious Award
City officials said the award recognizes "exceptional service and commitment to the public" outside of the water industry.
LIVERMORE, CA — Livermore Mayor John Marchand was recently presented the National Distinguished Public Service Award during the American Water Works Association Annual Conference and Exposition, city officials said.
“The Award was presented to Mayor Marchand for his years of commitment to community service, initiatives to support veterans and encourage volunteerism,” city officials said in a statement.
Last year, Marchand was honored with the 2016 Graffiti Fighter Award by Zero Graffiti International in Sacramento. Several years ago, he started a local initiative called “GLAD: Graffiti and Litter Abatement Daily." He and many other citizen volunteers work on removing tags found throughout Livermore whenever they find them.
