Livermore In-N-Out Burger Reopens Friday After 9 Diners Sickened
Health officials say it appears that several of the players had been ill with symptoms of acute gastroenteritis before eating at In-N-Out.
LIVERMORE, CA — The In-N-Out Burger in Livermore reopened Friday after voluntarily closing following a complaint of illness from nine customers earlier this week. The diners, who were traveling together as part of a college softball team, complained of acute gastroenteritis or flu-like symptoms after dining at the Livermore location on May 6, according to county health department officials.
"Based on the interview with the head coach of the college softball team, it appears that several of the players had been ill with symptoms of acute gastroenteritis, including vomiting and/or diarrhea last week prior to their exposure at In-N-Out on May 6," Alameda County Department of Environmental Health officials said via email.
In-N-Out Burger VP of Operations Denny Warnick said the restaurant closed on May 9 to conduct a full investigation and quickly notified the Alameda County Department of Environmental Health in accordance with its safety protocols.

On May 10, Alameda County Department of Environmental Health officials said Norovirus was suspected but was not confirmed as the source. The Department of Environmental Health worked with the staff of In-N-Out Burger to conduct inspections and an investigation in order to reopen the popular eatery.
