Livermore’s Measure A: Election Results 2022

LIVERMORE, CA — Livermore voters approved extending a local parcel tax in Tuesday's special election for Measure A , unofficial results showed.

Results from the Alameda County Registrar of Voters indicated 11, 298 — or 67.31% — of voters voted 'yes' and 5, 488 — or 32.69% — voted 'no' on the special mail-in ballot.

The county said 16, 802 people voted on the measure in all 32 precincts.

The vote called for a 2/3 majority to pass.

Measure A, previously Measure G, allows for the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District to continue a seven-year special parcel tax of $138 per year.

The district said the money goes toward attracting and retaining teachers, keeping classroom technology and instructional materials up to date and maintaining class sizes. It also said the tax, effective since 2004, provides other financial support to maintain the district programs, including purchasing equipment, materials and supplies.

Opponents said the money does not go to support education but rather bureaucracy.

Seniors over 65 who own a home are exempt from the tax. It will be collected by the Alameda County and Contra Costa County Tax Collectors at the same time and in the same manner as property taxes are collected, Alameda County said.
