Livermore Tapped To Pilot Google's New Environmental Software

Livermore was 1 of 100 cities worldwide chosen to pilot software to help cities track environmental data and tackle climate change.

LIVERMORE, CA — Google has selected Livermore as one of 100 cities across the world to pilot its new Environmental Insights Explorer, an online data tool that aims to help cities tackle climate change and improve air quality by allowing them to measure, plan and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Cities may track building and transportation emissions, solar energy potential and climate projections, according to a press release from the City of Livermore. Google will collect feedback from Livermore and other cities to fine-tune the explorer.

Other Bay Area cities participating in the pilot include San Jose, Mountain View, Cupertino, Menlo Park and Sunnyvale. San Mateo County will also give it a go.
