Longtime Livermore Fireman Dies
Retired Captain William Parsons served Alameda County for decades.

LIVERMORE, CA — William Parsons, a longtime Livermore resident and retired fire captain, died Monday at his home.
Parsons started his career in 1980 as a member of the Livermore Laboratory Fire Department, the Alameda County Fire Department said. He joined Alameda County Fire in 2007.
Alameda County Fire shared the news on Facebook Wednesday. Commenters remembered him as "one of the nicest guys you could ever meet" and a person who made "the fire service a much better place."

Alameda County Fire Chief David Rocha gave his condolences to Parsons's family.
"He was a valued member of our organization and will be missed," Alameda County Fire wrote.
