Livermore Pleasanton Fire officials said bystanders reported that someone was inside one of the trailers.

“When officers arrived on the scene, a fifth-wheel trailer was fully engulfed in flames and the neighboring trailer was also on fire,” police said in a statement. “This is a joint investigation between the Livermore Police Department and the Livermore/Pleasanton Fire Department.”

“Fire crews were unable to enter the trailer due to the intense heat of the fire,” Battalion Chief Michael Miller said. “The second trailer was searched and no one was found. Within less than 10 minutes the fire in the trailer was knocked down and a fire victim was found inside.”

Several witnesses in the surrounding area reported hearing a loud explosion before the fire.

“The explosion shook my building at work (Kaiser),” Patch reader Lisa Romero said via Facebook. “It was a very sad scene and I haven’t been able to get it out of my head!”

According to Miller, both trailers are a total loss due to the fire.

“The occupant of the second trailer was able to relocate and stay with family,” Miller said.

Miller said the Alameda County Coroner was on scene and removed the victim.

“The identity of the victim is being held until family members have been notified,” Miller said.

Police officials say 6539 Southfront Road consists of a mobile home park with various trailers permanently located on the property. Any possible witnesses to the fire are encouraged to call Livermore Police at 925-371-4777.
