Massive Arroyo Fire Leaves Its Mark on Sycamore Grove Park: Dramatic Photos
The park has since reopened but the blaze left its unmistakable calling card.
Livermore, CA — A fire that ripped through a popular Tri-Valley park last week left about 20 acres of land charred. The park has since reopened but the blaze left cruel scars on Sycamore Grove Park in Livermore.
The blaze, which was sparked by a tractor performing week abatement near the Livermore Veterans Affairs Hospital, started on July 8. The majority of the burned area was inside the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District, prompting an evacuation and closure of the park.

Park officials say signs have been posted near burn areas advising no trespassing due to hazardous conditions and park users are advised to remain on marked trails.
District spokesperson Lea Blevins said maintenance staff made minor repairs to a gate last Friday before rangers reopened the park.
"We are in the process of doing some very minor repairs to a foot bridge and fencing," Blevins told Patch. "As for the fire area itself, there actually is not much work needed."
According to Blevins, LARPD Chief Ranger Pat Sotelo said, "It cleans up all the debris and kind of opens it up again. Fire is not necessarily a bad thing.”
