New Wildfire Erupts In Alameda County
The fire grew from 15 acres to nearly 100 in an hour Monday evening, authorities said.
ALTAMONT, CA — A wildfire quickly grew from 15 acres to nearly 100 acres Monday evening in Alameda County, according to authorities.
Cal Fire Santa Clara Unit posted on social media shortly before 5 p.m. that authorities were battling the 15-acre blaze near Patterson Pass and North Midway roads in the Altamont area.
About an hour later, an updated post said the blaze, dubbed the Patterson Fire, had reached 95.5 acres and was 50 percent contained. As of around 9 p.m., it was the same size but 75 percent contained, authorities said. By 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, it was 90 percent contained.

"Firefighters will continue to mop up and patrol the fire for the next few days," Cal Fire Santa Clara Unit said in a social media post Tuesday morning.
The nearby Corral Fire continued to burn for a fourth day on Tuesday morning southwest of Tracy, with 14,168 acres at 90 percent containment.
