Alligator, Gold-Plated Gun Found In LA Luxury Apartment Stash House: DOJ (patch.com) β Federal agents say a downtown Los Angeles luxury apartment doubled as a stash house packed with nearly 94 pounds of fentanyl, other drugs, guns and even a small alligator. Two suspects from LA were arrested, one ordered detained and the other released on bond, with arraignments set in early October and potential life sentences if convicted.

2. 3rd 'Upskirting' Photo Arrest In 2 Months Hits Same Burbank Shopping Center (patch.com) β A series of alleged upskirting incidents at Burbank's Empire Center has led to a third arrest in less than two months, including one suspect from Los Angeles. Police say multiple women have been identified as victims and are urging anyone who suspects they were targeted to contact Burbank detectives as the investigation continues.

3. 3 Homes Destroyed, 2 Injured In Southeast LA County Brush Fire (patch.com) β A fast-moving brush fire in La Habra Heights burned 17 acres, destroyed three homes and damaged others, prompting evacuations and a major response from Los Angeles County firefighters and aircraft. Two people, including a firefighter, suffered medical emergencies but are expected to recover, while crews also rescued several horses and quickly gained containment, allowing evacuation orders to be lifted and utilities to begin restoration.

4. Nick Reiner Won't Face Death Penalty In Parents' Murder Case: DA (patch.com) β Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced that Nick Reiner will not face the death penalty in the killings of his parents, filmmaker Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, at their Brentwood home. Reiner still faces a possible life-without-parole sentence, with key hearings on grand jury transcripts and a potential dismissal motion ahead of a trial not expected before 2027.

NBC news helicopter crashes and kills at least 3 in LA neighborhood (newser.com) β A local NBC news helicopter crashed and burned in a Chatsworth neighborhood Tuesday evening while covering a deadly SUVβcity bus collision, leaving at least three people dead and one hospitalized. Los Angeles firefighters battled flames that spread to cars and storage containers as investigators from federal agencies prepare to determine what caused the chopper to go down so close to an earlier fatal bus crash.
