Applications Open For LA County Civil Grand Jury

Los Angeles County residents selected for the panel will investigate local government agencies during a one-year term.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles County Superior Court officials are seeking residents to serve on the county's 23-member Civil Grand Jury for the 2027-28 term.

The Civil Grand Jury investigates and reviews Los Angeles County, city and joint-powers agencies, according to the court. Jurors receive training before conducting reviews that can last several weeks or months.

At the end of its one-year term, the panel issues a report detailing its findings and recommendations.

No previous jury service or investigative experience is required. Applicants must be U.S. citizens who are at least 18 years old, can read and speak English and have lived in Los Angeles County for at least one year, court officials said.

Civil grand jurors generally spend 30 to 40 hours per week on their duties and meet most days at 222 S. Hill St. in downtown Los Angeles. Jurors are paid $80 per day and receive mileage reimbursement.

Applicants who complete interviews and are deemed qualified will be placed in a pool of finalists. Twenty-three people will be randomly selected in spring 2027 to serve on the panel.

The term runs from July 1, 2027, through June 30, 2028.
