Arrests Made After Crowd Engages In 'Acts Of Vandalism' Following No Kings Protest In Los Angeles: PD

Tear gas was deployed after the crowd refused to disperse following the protest, officials say.

LOS ANGELES, CA — The Los Angeles Police Department has begun arresting demonstrators after a crowd refused to disperse following a No Kings protest Saturday in Downtown Los Angeles.

According to LAPD Central Division on X, "Arrests are now being made for violation of failing to disperse."

Protesters outside the Metropolitan Detention Center on Alameda Street in Los Angeles were reportedly throwing rocks and refusing to leave, according to social media reports and video.

The LAPD has issued a Tactical Alert for the city of Los Angeles due to acts of vandalism near the federal Metropolitan Detention Center. A Tactical Alert means officers cannot end their shifts, and it puts off low-priority calls.

Skirmish lines can be seen on Alameda Street between Aliso and Temple streets.

Earlier on Saturday, the LAPD also said on X: "Acts of vandalism are being reported on Alameda between Aliso and Temple. Protestors are blocking lanes of southbound traffic."

Tear gas was also deployed, officials said.

NBC Los Angeles reported that although most protesters left in an orderly fashion, some threw concrete block and bottles over a fence; a tactical alert for Los Angeles was issued, officials said.
