City officials and event organizers anticipated roughly 100,000 demonstrators in one of the largest No Kings Day protests nationwide.
The protests, vandalism, arrests and aggressive dispersement tactics echo last year's No Kings Day protest in June when police fired tear gas and rubber bullets into the crowd, beating protesters who failed to disperse with batons. Though that demonstration was largely peacefully, the night devolved into chaos, violence and dozens of arrests.
