Naked Rampager Who Died After Bystanders Retrained Him Identified
Police say 43-year-old David Estes shattered windows and assaulted a woman in a naked rampage that ended in his death.
BURBANK, CA — Authorities on Monday identified a 43-year-old man who died after being restrained by residents when he went on a naked rampage, smashing windows and attacking a woman in a Burbabk apartment complex, according to police.
According to Burbank Police Department Sgt. Stephen Turner, police arrived on the scene in the 2200 block of North Ontario Street shortly after 9:30 p.m. Friday night to find a man in medical distress as residents restrained him. The officers performed CPR and administered NarCan and performing CPR, but he died soon afte. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner on Monday identified him as David Estes.
An autopsy and toxicology results were pending to help establish the cause of death.

According to a prepared statement by the Burbank Police Department, investigators "interviewed several witnesses who said the naked man broke windows and assaulted a female resident. Detectives searched the man’s apartment and vehicle pursuant to a warrant and located narcotics. Investigators watched cellphone footage of the incident, which corroborated the witnesses’ statements."
The witnesses and residents who restrained Estes remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, Turner said. No arrests were made.
