Shoplifter Knocked Out Convenience Store Clerk, Is On The Lam: LA County Sheriff

The shoplifter is on the run after knocking out a worker at a convenience store earlier this month, deputies said.

EAST LOS ANGELES, CA — Authorities on Friday asked for the public's help finding a man suspected of knocking out a store employee who tried to stop him from shoplifting, according to deputies.

Quandrell Ivey, 37, entered a business on the 200 block of South Atlantic Boulevard shortly before 1 p.m. on March 17, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. KTLA identified the business as a Chevron convenience store near the 60 Freeway.

Ivey removed food items from a shelf, walked based the register and toward the door without attempting to pay for the items, deputies said.

An employee was standing in the store's entryway. He appeared on move toward the suspect but was violently knocked to the ground after the man lowered his shoulder and barreled into him before running away, KTLA reported based on video footage shared by the store's owner.

"Ivey pushed the victim, causing him to fall on the ground and hit his head, rendering him unconscious," deputies said.

Ivey fled the scene, deputies said.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest in connection to the incident. He also has an additional warrant for a parole violation, deputies said.

Ivey is Black, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs 180 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.

He is homeless and known to spend time in Hollywood, deputies said.
