Stranger Shoots Man During Altercation In Downtown Glendale: Police
The altercation occurred near the Americana at Brand mall.
GLENDALE, CA — A North Hollywood man was arrested Saturday after a shooting in downtown Glendale left another man critically wounded, according to police.
Officers responded at about 1:52 a.m. Saturday to the 200 block of North Brand Boulevard, near the Americana at Brand mall, following reports of a man with a gun, the Glendale Police Department said.
When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Glendale Fire Department personnel transported the victim to a local hospital, where he remained in critical but stable condition, police said.

The victim and suspect, who did not know each other, became involved in a verbal dispute that escalated when the suspect displayed a firearm, police said.
A physical confrontation followed, during which a single shot was fired, striking the victim, police said. The suspect fled the area in a vehicle before officers arrived, police said.

Glendale Police Robbery-Homicide detectives launched an overnight investigation and identified the suspect Ricardo Fernandez, 25, of North Hollywood.
At about 2 p.m. Saturday, Glendale police officers, working alongside members of the U.S. Marshals Pacific Southwest Fugitive Regional Task Force, located Fernandez at his home and took him into custody without incident, authorities said.
Fernandez was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury and booked into the Glendale City Jail.
The case will be submitted to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for filing consideration, police said.
