Anaheim Street Takeover Injures Woman, Driver Arrested: Cops

A group of 200 gathered to watch cars doing stunts early Thursday morning. One woman was struck during the unauthorized event.

ANAHEIM, CA — In Anaheim, an early morning street takeover injured one woman who was part of a crowd of onlookers, police say. The woman was struck by a vehicle doing donuts in the parking lot of a shopping center where hundreds gathered to watch cars making stunt moves.

She was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Anaheim police responded to the Anaheim Plaza Marketplace, on the 400 block of N. Euclid, about 1:30 a.m. There, several hundred cars were taking part in the takeover.

One car struck the woman during the incident, flipping her into the air before landing on the pavement.

That driver fled the scene following the crash but was later taken into custody.

Anaheim police say that crowd headed south, toward Costa Mesa, where one person was later killed.
