DWP Housing Project Gets Three City Meetings This Week
The city is hosting three public committee meetings this week to go over the environmental report for the proposal to build 48 homes on the former DWP property.

After years of committee meetings, debate and court battles, residents will have multiple opportunities to voice their opinions or concerns on a proposal to build 48 homes on the former DWP property.
The long awaited Draft Environmental Impact Report is available and ready for comment. Starting today, the city will host a series of meetings to summarize the project and the environmental report, take community input and lay out the steps as the project winds its way through the committees before going to the City Council for final approval.
Developer Bay City Partners is proposing to build 48 homes on the coastal property that borders the San Gabriel River. The property was at the heart of a contentious legal battle and controversial settlement between the city and developer.

The 10.7-acre project at the corner of Marina Drive and First Street has been examined for potential impacts in areas such aesthetics, air quality and green house gas emissions, cultural and biological resources, geology, hydrology and water quality, noise, traffic, population, utilities, recreation and public services
In June, residents who oppose the project voiced their objections to the City Council, including concerns that the land could have pollution. At the time, city leaders anticipated the project making its way to the council for final approval in March of next year.

Today, the Environmental Quality Control Board will meet to discuss the project at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
At 6 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall, the Archaeological Advisory Committee will go over the environmental report.
Finally, the Department of Water and Power Specific Plan Advisory Committee will review the environmental report at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at City Hall.
