Driver Swims to Safety After Crashing into the San Gabriel River
A car has sank in the San Gabriel River below College Park Drive, but the driver managed to swim to safety.

A motorist managed to swim to safety after driving a vehicle into the San Gabriel River in Long Beach late this afternoon.
The vehicle came off the westbound Garden Grove (22) Freeway about 5 p.m. and ended up fully submerged below College Park Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Divers checked the vehicle but found no other victims, Long Beach Fire Department spokesman Brian Fisk said.

The driver was checked out at the scene and released, Fisk said.
