Local Watch Party Planned for State of the Union Speech

Tomorrow, the president is expected to talk about economic inequality, offering a possible glimpse at a theme of his upcoming campaign.

It’s getting to be that time of year. You know, when passions run high, when normally mild-mannered people gather around a plate of nachos or Buffalo wings and hoot and holler or boo and hiss at the television. No, it’s not quite yet Super Bowl Sunday. Tomorrow is State of the Union Tuesday, and there are watch parties for those looking to catch the President’s speech with like-minded fans.

The Obama Biden website allows supporters to look up watch parties by ZIP code. While there are none scheduled in Seal Beach or Los Alamitos, there is one close by in Long Beach at PCH and 2nd Street at the Marina Pacifica clubhouse & Forbidden City restaurant. The party runs from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. There are several additional watch parties planned around Orange and Los Angeles counties and the Inland Empire.

Patch was unable to find local watch parties being hosted by Republicans or Tea Partiers.
