PCH Closes as Woman Is Struck by Car in Seal Beach
A woman was hurt Wednesday night when a car struck her as she attempted to dart across PCH in Surfside.

SEAL BEACH, CA - A woman was hit by a car while darting across Pacific Coast Highway at the border of Sunset Beach Wednesday night.
According to police, she was crossing outside of a crosswalk when she was struck. She was hospitalized with non-life- threatening injuries, police said. It's a dangerous stretch of PCH that has a history of pedestrian fatalities and injuries.
The accident occurred just as it was getting dark at about 6:15 p.m. at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Anderson Street, according to Seal Beach police Sgt. John Scott.

"The woman was trying to cross PCH outside of a crosswalk," Scott said. "We don't know why the woman ran across the road."
SheĀ was taken to a hospital, Scott said.

The driver stopped at the scene and was not cited or arrested for the accident, Scott said
Pacific Coast Highway was closed in both directions in the vicinity of the accident for the investigation.
