Seal Beach Residents May Lose Representation in State Senate

An electoral glitch could leave millions without state Senate representation, including Seal Beach residents.

The Orange County Register and the Riverside Press-Enterprise collaborated this week on a little known electoral glitch that could leave millions of Californians, including Seal Beach residents, without a representative in the state Senate in 2013-2014.

According to an analysis by the newspapers, 3.97 million Californians may go without a Senate representative while another 3.9 million residents could get two senators.

It’s a temporary phenomenon resulting from this year’s redistricting process, and it’s happened in the past when legislative districts were redrawn. For more about it, read the article here.
